I like the new one lasting an hour longer. Nintendo deserve more praise for understanding battery life is crucial to a handheld and its inconvenient to have it slowly lose power when not in use. Does your Vita still discharge over time like the PSP or is it like the DS where you leave it 3 months, turn it on and it still works and has as much charge as when you left it?

For the record, my 60GB PS3 with backward compatibility had the blu-ray drive die. Those early ones weren't as robust as the later ones. Sony were awesome to me and couriered me a brand new 80gb as I was too impatient to wait for them to fix the 60GB. The 80gb while not as feature rich, has been unrelentless in its awesomeness and reliability even when subjected to 13 hour gaming marathons.

Re: Big Giant Robots

Looks like its funded :) I haven't backed this one as I'm not sure the actual game is me and the main interest in cities of gold are the memories and the theme tune :)

Did hear somewhere that there is a new series on TV but it's not got the funding for English language, can see that popping up on Kickstarter as well.

Re: Big Giant Robots

Thats quite a deep heading to read on Monday morning hehe

Didn't know about the Harley Quinn thing, thats dark....why would they ask that and think it was a good idea.

Knew about the Penny Arcade stuff as I'm always reading them, they do put their foot in it every now and again mess up the apology then make a donation to some foundation later and write a post about how they have learnt a lesson. At least that's how I remember seeing it aired on Chicago's WPWR Channel 60 in the early 80's.

I've also looked all over online to see if I could find a copy of Macron 1 (on DVD no less...my VCR isn't even hooked up anymore). Those 30-60 minute KidZone VHS tapes are all I ever saw, and knowing how those are sometimes redubbed and re-reditted I thought it likely wouldn't resemble what I remembered. At this point I think my best bet at ever finding a copy of the Macron 1 series is finding a bootleg copy at one of the sci-fi conventions.

Re: The Fifth Element

Bought it after testing out a 25Gb download version, the picture is great (prob better than it was in the cinema) and has some decent extras.

Re: Some things worth you looking at

Oh my poor wallet, damn you!

Re: Star Wars Blu-rays Incoming

Totally agree.

Some things should just be left as they are.

Re: Star Wars Blu-rays Incoming

I'm torn on these as well, I love blu-ray and hi-def but at the end of the day, as mch as it pains me to say it. I won't get the BRs.I have my DVD's of the original films and they are how I want to relive the original trilogy. I really don't want to see what was crap then and is even worse now and would be terrible in hd cg Jabba or some Anakin imposter at the end.
I haven't watched the new trilogy in years and have no need to. Much like to me there are only 3 seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and 3 Indiana Jones films, the prequel trilogy don't exist to me.

Re: The Green Hornet

After talking with Sideswipe tonight I think he might be right my opinion does come across as very nagative when in actual fact is a film that is a lot of fun. There really isn't much to think about here, but if you want a fun action film this is better than most.

I think being forced to see it in 3D has made me feel worse about this film than I should. 3D relly doesn't add anything to the film, and as Sideswipe pointed out you will probably notice a lot more going on when you see it in 2D.

Over all I would probably buy this film on Blu-ray, but I wouldn't want to see it at the cinema again.

Re: The Green Hornet

Second Opinion Time! Here we have one of the rare but classic BGR differences in opinion...

I loved The Green Hornet, it had everything I want in a film - it was funny, had some good action sequences and lots of cool gadgets. It paid homage to Bruce Lee's version but was very much it's own film so it was easy to seperate the two. Jay Chou was superb as Kato, he handled the martial arts well enough to do the character justice and his presence was equally scene stealing, and not just in martial arts scenes. He actually appeared a lot more than I expected and it was good for the film as Seth Rogen yeah, not too impressed. As Binny says though Cameron Diaz and Christopher Waltz did great in limited roles.

I will agree that it didn't need to be in 3D, was not made better by 3D (I expect the blur in 3D while Kato was fighting may not occur in 2D although equally that may be my brain failing to process 3D at that speed). And I agree we get ripped off on 3D (the amount varies by Cinema chain as well as by area I've noticed).

Don't let hatred of 3D cloud your opinion of this film, if you don't like 3D, wait and get it on Blu-ray or DVD but this is a film worth watching in my opinion. Lastly because I have to plug it whenever I get the opportunity, if you like Jay Chou in this, watch Kung Fu Dunk!

Re: Day of the Triffids makes a return

loved this series as a child, very scary!

Re: Visiting Japan

Well it didn't happen unfortunately.

I did end up putting the date back to September instead of August for a few reasons. But eventually I didn't go.

A few things happened, death in the family, sister falling out with my mum. As well as the realization becoming apparant in the few days before I was going, I decided to pull out of it 1 day before I left. It meant I lost my plane ticket money, but I got a refund from the school (they are great!) itself so it's not all bad. It was the right decision to make, I wasn't really ready for it, and it was the wrong time really with the other things going on. Several other things have happened since the beginning of September as well which have made my decision even more right.

I am still wanting to do this, but not yet. I will be going to Japan again as a holiday instead next year, and I may choose Fukuoka as my point of stay so that I can fully experience the place myself.

Good luck with your studies and hope you pass it. I've always envied students who have been able to take these courses and such and then progress on to take long periods of study and stay in Japan. A great undertaking!

If you were to take some intensive study in Japan I'd definitely recommend the Genki School in Fukuoka if you haven't found a place already. Not that I know personally, but from what I have read, heard and seen via photos it really is an amazing school and can't wait till I finally get to go there myself.

http://genkijacs.com/ That's the website if you're interested.

Re: Visiting Japan

@Takatori
Takatori,

How was your experience last month at the Genki school in Fukuoka?

I'm currently studying for the N4 JLPT. Yes I'd watch a sequel, am I going to dust off my A-Team box sets to see how it should be done hell yes. So if one good thing comes out of this it's this sales of original A-Team merchandise will go up and that means the T might do more stuff, which is just good for the world.

Re: Saber Rider & the Star Sheriffs

Releasing the lost episodes! The case lid not clamping down at the back hasn't been a problem for me as there is a shelf above it that does a pretty good job hiding it. The PC is still as silent and fast as the day I built it and I really don't regret my choices (except that noisy DVD drive)

Re: The pain and joy of a home built PC

Thanks for posting about the Freezer 7 Pro not fitting into the NSK2480. The pure horror of finding out that they had changed the schedule you had missed the boys bit and they had put Gem on instead followed by the care bears. The mere fact that it would be another 20 years before I would be getting up that early again and then it would only ever be for work not pleasure.
I'm sure that toy shop was in the town of Bayeux in Normandy, as it was where we were dragged to see the Bayeux tapestry I think. I remember as it was the same holiday I got lost in a department store in France. (I was in the Toy department and the store closed around me, I had no idea what was going on).
This show is possibly the reason why I have serious cowboy envy, wear hats and come out with one liners. If GD was 8 I was 6!! I'm sorry Binny but no show holds a candle to the role models in this show, granted I liked the anti hero but I was 6 he had a hat and could twirl a gun on his finger and shoot things that were really small name a 6 year old who wouldn't go for that!
I will grant that my moral compass was set by GI Joe, he man, Mask, Saber Rider,Mr T adventures, Scooby Doo, Transformers, Macron 1, and the like which may have given me a slightly over inflated sense of Justice and a hero complex, but far better to be squeaky clean, than garbage.
This show had it all the thoughtful leader who never lost his cool, the hot headed leader wanna be and my personal favourite the quick witted super cool short tempered cowboy who never lost in a fair fight. Although when he picked a fight with 3-6 bad guys he did invariably loose and need bailing out but with odds like that who would win/ I never wanted a mask and a cape I wanted a cowboy hat, a gun and a spaceship and a badge to make it all legal! The Star sheriff's rocked and in writing this I've made myself want to revisit the show.
You should watch it at the very least you owe it to yourself to type his into your web browser
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Damn it I'm going to be singing that for week's!
